“This isn’t a Wii, is it.”
I came across this endearingly sad packaging at the Goodwill yesterday. Didn’t even bother to check the price sticker on what could only have been a discarded month-late birthday present.
I was just so excited to capture the kid on the package’s face, which couldn’t possibly have better conveyed a confused, dispirited “Um, Interactive TV Game won’t make the other kids stop purple nurpling me, will it.”

"You can’t have a competitive system where one side can use its most powerful weapon anytime it chooses but is expected not to do it that often. If baseball teams were allowed to deploy two extra fielders any time they wanted, but were expected to save the move for moments when they really needed a stop, how long would it take before every team always deployed 11 fielders?"

"America needs to boycott Bill Murray and do it now! Peel back the layers of this aging man: slapstick comedian, jaded movie star, imperious intellectual, notorious bon vivant, restless wanderer in the dark, slick self-promoter… Have you reached the core yet? Is he hollow? Or has Bill Murray come to the grand revelation himself that he is desperately clawing against his own mortality with half-hearted sexual perversion and intellectual degeneracy, wandering drunken through the night, without passion or direction, already lost to the game of life. He is defeat. He has given up making meaningful gestures of faith or righteousness to instead nest in those small moments of self-satisfaction before he slips into the quiet bosom of obscurity. There is no denying that this grotesque and dangerous creature can be described as nothing less than one of the four horsemen of America’s impending Apocalypse."

This is my Flipboard.

That’s what I’m calling this little video I made to demonstrate the elegance and ingenuity of a new iPad app called Flipboard. I think you’ll agree, it looks nice. I also think you’ll find, once you download the app, that it feels amazing.

Here’s the effect it’s had on me in my couple of months using it in beta: I tend not to follow too many people on Twitter for the content they share, and in a typical Twitter client, I tend to gloss over links and images. Flipboard gives me such a nice way to read this stuff, I use it as an auxiliary client, just for the linked content. Turns out there’s some interesting stuff hidden behind all those ugly short URLs and yfrogs.

Big thanks to the talented and illustrious Peter Atencio for his work behind the lens, and to my handsome and kindhearted nephew Wes who knows how to swing.

Not a bad price, and the whole idea is gimmicky enough to get a lot of press.

How that wasn’t a red card is beyond me.  I am surprised the Netherlands player didn’t fake an injury too though.  The finals game was the biggest bitchfest I’ve seen in the entire ‘10 World Cup.

"Starting in September, some of the worst abuses will be banned forever. No more discriminating against children with pre-existing conditions. No more retroactively dropping somebodys policy when they get sick if they made an unintentional mistake on an application. No more lifetime limits or restrictive annual limits on coverage. Those days are over."

I Have a Fever: Ashes for iPad

I agree with this review - if you are looking for something, anything to scratch your Fever itch on the iPad, this is your only option.  But it’s slow as of now, and not really worth the $7 they’re asking until they can speed up the sync process.

Hopefully soon, but not today.  The good news is they are super communicative and very responsive, so I am glad I supported them for that reason alone.

"This principle may be stated in various ways but they all amount to this: that it is wrong for a man to say that he is certain of the objective truth of any proposition unless he can produce evidence which logically justifies that certainty."

Holy crap, I’m married!

Well, we’re back in town after a wild few weeks. The ceremony, reception and honeymoon are here and over already, and it’s just like everyone says - a total blur.  I can’t believe that it’s over.  The entire wedding weekend I kept telling Michelle I was amazed it was already time to move to the next ‘thing’ - rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, hotel (thanks to What’s Up Interactive for getting our sweet room at the Ritz downtown!) and then off to Cozumel.  What a whirlwind!

You can view all of the assorted photos from the wedding stuff and our honeymoon on my Flickr page (if you want to see all of them, you need to be logged in and my friend on there.)

Speaking of photos and such, if you are in the Atlanta area and are looking for some references, we cannot speak more highly of our Wedding Photographer, Jamie Howell.  He does absolutely fantastic work, he’s a total pro, and we’ll have some amazing photos for the rest of our lives thanks to him.

If you’re looking for a venue, the Windermere Golf Club in Cumming GA was such a great choice for us.  Being all-in-one, we had the luxury of booking the venue and going thru one person to help set up almost all of the details related to the ceremony & the reception.  As you can see in the photos, it’s really a beautiful venue.

Our DJ Was Lou Guzzo, and I really couldn’t recommend him more highly.  One of the best things about Spectrum Entertainment was the fact that they have an online event ‘planner’ that makes it so easy for you (and for them) to make sure the songs you want to get played get played, there is consensus on every single detail going on, and it pays off - the ceremony and reception went off without a hitch.   Well, except the fact that I’m a mush mouthed fool and said “With this wing, I thee wed.”  But you can’t blame the DJ for me being a jackass.

Our honeymoon was great too.  We stayed at Aura Wyndam in Cozumel & it was absolutely amazing.  One of the things about me that you may or may not know … I’m a planner.  Michelle and I both need to know every single detail about what we’re doing, where we’re going, etc.  All inclusive resorts take a lot of the guesswork out of things for us and we can sit back and enjoy ourselves, eat well, drink a lot, and not die from paralysis from analysis.  The resort was amazing, the staff was super friendly and helpful, and the food was great too, which is something you worry about when going to all-inclusive type places.  You can check out some of the pictures from there here.  I’ll probably write more about everything once I get settled and have a chance to reflect, but just wanted to do a quick brain dump now that I’m back in town.

It’s funny how after all that happened you kind of forget for a second that you’re actually married.  All of the other chaos kind of blinds you to the whole reason for it in the first place.  Now back to the day to day business of spending the rest of our lives together.  All in all, not a bad proposition.
